The Filipino Indian Commerce and Welfare Society Inc. (FICWSI), led by its President, Manjinder “James” Kumar, recently handed over 10 sets of personal computers to the Dagupan City Police.
The computers will be used by the Women and Children Protection Desks of police stations across Region 1 or Ilocos Region.
Kumar said the effort, in collaboration with the local police, allowed FICWSI to choose the police stations as their beneficiaries in celebration of Women’s Month.
“Thank you to PLT COL Brendon B. Palisoc, Chief of Police of Dagupan City, for hosting this event,” he said.
Kumar and FICWSI also recognized and thanked PBGEN Lou F. Evangelista, Regional Director of the Philippine National Police Police Regional Office 1, PBGEN Jovencio S. Badua Jr., PNP PRO 1 Deputy Regional Director for Administration, and “Uncle” Dr. Ashok Vasandhani for their support in this effort.
“A big thank you to the local Dagupan City Police Department for their assistance in making this day orderly and efficient,” Kumar added.
The Filipino Indian Commerce and Welfare Society Inc. is a duly recognized and registered non-profit, non-stock organization. Its members are predominantly Indian nationals with some Filipinos, forging a collaborative network of business- and socio-civic minded individuals.
FICWSI functions as a platform for its members who synergize their respective knowledge, capabilities, capacities, and good intentions to assist fellow members in their business agenda and conduct and conform well with the Philippines’ prevailing regulations.
This endeavor also promotes business opportunities and collaborations.
FICWSI involves itself in charitable activities. Over the past few years, the organization’s outreach program has been active in extending aid and relief operations for past calamities in the country.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Philippines in 2020, FICWSI formally branded its outreach program as “filindihelpline,” utilizing a collaborative slogan “Together For A Cause – Together We Help.”
The group uses “Helpline” as the keyword in filindihelpline’s outreach endeavors. “Helpline for the Frontline” immediately kicked-off when the pandemic started.
Meanwhile, “Helpline for the Hungry” and “Helpline Kitchen” were deployed to distribute food relief packs to various impoverished communities.
“Helpline for Online Schooling” also donated gadgets and laptops for indigent students for use for the school year—including the adoption of all the wards in one orphanage for the school year, providing children there with a complete package of computers, internet plan, technical homeschooling assistance, and support.
Filindihelpline’s active aid and relief provisions to various entities and communities promotes better goodwill for Indian nationals to Filipino communities. Through these ongoing outreach activities, better camaraderie and affinity is fostered between Indians and Filipinos.
