THE Taguig City government has rolled out its first Livelihood Caravan for women in celebration of Women’s Month 2024.

The initiative, called “SheGotIT: Livelihood Caravan Skills Demo and Orientation,” was organized by the Taguig Manpower Training Center in collaboration with the Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of Trade and Industry.

The project aimed to encourage women to participate in livelihood training programs that provide equal opportunities and enhance their potential.

At least 300 members of the Progressive Ladies League of the Philippines participated in skills demonstrations and orientations in various crafts and professional skills at the Dalupang Multi-Purpose Hall in Barangay Central Signal Village.

“We are empowering the women of Taguig to challenge themselves that they have more to do besides taking care of their families,” said Mayor Laarni Cayetano.

Under this program, beneficiaries can select from five  community-based programs: weaving, basic sewing machine operation, tote bag assembly and sewing, chocolate molding, stuffed toy making, and Spanish sardine salting; and six center-based programs that could yield a certificate of competency for bread and pastry production, barista, and electrical installation maintenance or a full qualification for bread and pastry production, barista, and electrical installation maintenance.

The training program’s duration ranges from five to 18 days.

The local government celebrates National Women’s Month by organizing various programs and events for women, including a Tai Chi class, self-defense training for women, especially those working at night, health events for street sweepers, seminars for traffic enforcers, a bazaar for women entrepreneurs, and a volleyball tournament.
