A total of 9,746 high school students received educational assistance during the four-day distribution of the Taguig Learners’ Certificate (TLC) Scholarship allowance.

Mayor Laarni Cayetano led the distribution held at the Taguig City University Auditorium.

The TLC scholars received an allowance of P10,000 each to cover their miscellaneous fees and other school fees.

This is apart from the tuition fee subsidy of up to P18,000 shouldered by the City of Taguig for elementary school graduates who want to continue their studies at partner private high schools.

A pioneering project of Cayetano, the TLC scholarship program now has 56 TLC partner schools in the city. The city chief executive emphasized the importance of students demonstrating values such as intelligence, kindness, and respect, encouraging them to be role models in their communities.

Grade 7 student Joshua Bibit from HSL Braille College expressed gratitude for the support, stating that it eased the financial burden on his family.

“This is a great help because we don’t have to think about buying school materials and other things needed for our studies,” he said.

Macxeen Tatualla of Bicutan Parochial School also praised Taguig’s commitment to education, stating that the city is the most beautiful in the country due to its high value on youth education.

Aside from TLC, the city government also initiated the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) Scholarship program for those who wish to continue their studies after high school.

The city offers grants ranging from P15,000 to P110,000 per year.

Mayor Cayetano said the scholarship program is a significant initiative by her administration to make education accessible to all students, regardless of their background or academic achievements.

The program is open to high school graduates, students pursuing premier colleges and universities, technical and vocational courses, board and bar exam reviewers, public and private school teachers in Taguig, barangay, and city and national government employees.

The assistance has so far helped about 2,000 graduate students, with almost 500 of them successfully earning their degrees.
