Cauayan CITY, Isabela – The 12th anniversary of GO WOW marked another milestone, as it celebrated the role of women in the 2nd district of Isabela to inspire and engage with each other while being committed to continuing to go beyond limits in the pursuit of women’s empowerment.
To motivate and involve women, Rep. Ed Christopher S. Go honored the event that recognized the roles played by women in Isabela’s 2nd District with the theme, “Empowering Women, Enriching Lives: A Season of Hope and Celebration.”
Rep. Go, the major sponsor who graced the event, thanked GO Wow for inspiring changes for Isabela women.
“We will continue to inspire more changes, catalyze more choices, and encourage everyone to go beyond their limits,” the young solon stressed.
“I’m going to keep working to inspire and empower our communities. As we build and fortify a viable future, we find possibilities to collaborate and invent new approaches,” Go said.
The young solon expressed gratitude to her mom, former Congresswoman Ana S. Go, founder of GO Wow, who was determined to organize this women’s organization 12 years ago.
In her inspirational message, former Congresswoman Ana S. Go said that the gains were achieved through passion and an unceasing pledge to the cause of women.
She thanked his son, Rep. Christopher, who was generous enough to give his 100% full support to the cause of GO Wow’s women’s empowerment.
Meanwhile, Board Member Christian S. Go shared another stirring message and thanked each member for their support as well as their family through Go Serbisyo and Doble Serbisyo.
District president and Naguilian Councilor Angelica Julie L. Reyes thanked the congressman profusely, adding he has provided the GO WOW Association with unwavering support and helped the group throughout.
Women from the municipalities of Benito Soliven, Gamu, Naguilian, San Mariano, Palanan, and Reina Mercedes can learn new skills and get remote employment prospects through this initiative.
In addition to other perks, members received medical aid under a mutual benefit plan that included five thousand pesos for each member in the event of death, livelihood programs, and scholarships for students in a family, Reyes said.
Highlighting the celebration, vibrant and colorfully dressed performers in District 2’s municipalities dance elegantly in their holiday costumes to a Christmas medley, bringing joy and enthusiasm as they move from spot to spot, ensuring a fantastic time. Masculados’ and actor/singer Vin Abrenica’s performances as Doble Serbisyo’s “handog” have contributed to the fun for members and guests.
Go WOW Naguilian Dancers was named the grand champion with a P100,000 prize, while the second prize was P75,000, P50,000 for the third placer, and P25,000 as a consolation prize for three municipalities.
Much to the women’s delight, a raffle with P3.5 million in prizes was held, with many prizes, including a Sari-Sari store worth P50,000 for each municipality. Refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, and other appliances were available. In addition, Vice Governor Faustino G. Dy III’s administration provided TVs, which were distributed to each municipality.
Three members from the different towns were privileged to win trips to Thailand and Hong Kong aside from the P200,000 contributed by Board Member Ed Christian S. Go for a trip to Macau.
For 12 years, GO Wow signaled a turning point in the lives of Isabela women with Rep. Christopher S. Go, District President, Former Congresswoman Ana S. Go, Consultant Stephanie Umali-Go, and SB Member Julie Reyes campaigning for agendas that uphold women’s rights.
Mayor Angelo ‘Bimbo’ Bernardo, Vice Mayor Mitzi Cumigad, Sangguniang Bayan members, local officials, and other guests were present in this momentous celebration of GO WOW.
Over the years, the Legislative Office of the Young Lawmaker, which has over 30,000 female members throughout the province, has developed partnerships and pushed them to participate in sustainable development actively.
Considering the limited capacity of the FLDY Coliseum in Cauayan City, Isabela, on Dec. 13, 2023, a crowd of 7,400 people attended the celebration.
