The visibly conspicuous Filipino custom of Bayanihan—from the word bayan—or tagnawa in northern Philippines goes on wheels along busy Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. The custom translates into helping each other in the community, seen often in the moving of a nipa hut to another place with residents having bamboo poles on their shoulders to carry the hut—thus achieving communal unity and strong cooperation.
