AirAsia Philippines reduced its base fare to as low as P1 to entice more Filipinos to travel despite high jet fuel prices.

The budget carrier brought back its P1 promotional fare from July 25 to July 31 this year for travels happening from Oct. 1 to 28, 2023.

AirAsia’s sale covers 16 domestic routes including the newly opened destinations of Dumaguete and Roxas and high foot-traffic routes like Caticlan and Tagbilaran.

The promotion also boasts of a slashed price tag of as low as P688 for international destinations like Bangkok and Singapore.

“The AirAsia Big Sale is among the many regular promos that we roll out to cushion the fuel surcharge cost. We at AirAsia are solid on our promise of making it possible for everyone to access world-class flying without hurting the wallet,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.

“We encourage our guests, especially those giddy to fly home to their families or spend time with their loved ones out-of-town over the holidays, to plan around these promos to maximize their travel budget,” he said.

AirAsia Philippines earlier said it was looking to recover as high as 70 percent of its pre-COVID capacity for international routes by the fourth quarter this year.

It restarted flights to Hong Kong, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, Singapore and Seoul. The airline expects to fly nearly 10,000 guests to Singapore in the third quarter.

The international guest count of AirAsia Philippines continued to rise month-on-month, with total guests flown abroad increasing 354 percent in June from May.
