The SM Group joined a massive private sector-led campaign to create over 1 million jobs over 12 months from May 2024 to May 2025.

The Private Sector Advisory Council, SM Supermalls and JobStreet by Seek signed a memorandum of agreement Thursday to support Trabaho Para sa Bayan: J.O.B.S (Job Opportunities Building Skills) to build on the success of the first 1 million jobs program launched during the pandemic.

“We need to put concerted efforts to put out there not just jobs, but quality jobs for Filipinos. This is the second season and have a lot of big private sector involvement to make this initiative happen,” said Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry vice president and director for innovation, digital economy and science and technology Perry Ferrer.

The signing of the agreement marked the start of the groundbreaking initiative, with the entire day dedicated to job fair at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Jobstreet by SEEK managing director Dannah Majarocon said the platform has over 100,000 job openings to be filled up.

“We’re honored to have been given the opportunity to work with other like-minded organizations, driving us to continue facilitating better job matches between employers and candidates across the country,” she said.

The collaboration seeks to generate quality jobs for Filipinos and help address the job skills mismatch. It strives to contribute to nation-building through activities including a series of on-ground job fairs at SM Malls nationwide and daily online job fairs via Jobstreet by SEEK’s online platform.

Succeeding job fairs will be rolled out at SM City San Jose Del Monte on May 16, SM City San Pedro Laguna on May 23 and SM City General Santos on May 30. More locations are to be announced soon.

Full-day jobs fair were launched in 24 SM Malls across the country during the celebration of Labor Day.

The campaign offers opportunities across a diverse range of focus industries, each playing a vital role in the economic landscape of the Philippines including but not limited to information technology-business process outsourcing (IT-BPO), healthcare, tourism, manufacturing and construction.

By focusing on these sectors, J.O.B.S. aims to provide employment opportunities and support key sectors of the country’s economy.
