Converge offers free fiber internet at BIR revenue districts nationwide

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. (Converge) said Friday it teamed up with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to offer free fiber internet access at 97 BIR revenue district offices (RDOs) nationwide.

The initiative aims to help taxpayers conveniently meet their tax filing obligations during the during the tax filing season, it said.

“We at Converge are happy to partner with the BIR and provide connectivity services to our taxpayers during this busy time of the year for them,” Converge co-founder and chief executive Dennis Anthony Uy said.

“This is part of our commitment to serve the digital needs of our countrymen wherever they may be,” he said.

Converge executive vice president and chief commercial officer Benjamin Azada said taxpayers could enjoy unlimited access to free fiber internet for their BIR transactions and various needs in several revenue district offices across the country until April 30, 2024.

“As a fiber broadband company, Converge recognizes its role in nation-building by enhancing the delivery of public services. We are always ready to support the government in facilitating their processes, such as the filing of income taxes which is one of the most important mechanisms of our economy,” Azada said.

“We hope our taxpayers will get to have a seamless and hassle-free experience in our RDOs by staying connected through our provided free fiber internet,” he said.

Major telecommunications companies such as Converge were encouraged to extend available network connectivity thru free Wi-Fi to the public especially to taxpayers to have a convenient tax filing and payment via various online channels through the initiative of BIR information systems group deputy commissioner Ma. Rosario Charo Enriquez-Curiba.

“Through this partnership with Converge, we aim to make the experience for our taxpayers as stress-free and efficient as possible, using the free internet connection available to them within our offices,” she said.
