PSA denies leak in national ID database

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) denied social media posts alleging a data leak in the National ID system.

It said that as the central agency for official statistics and the implementing body for civil registration and the National ID system, it takes such allegations seriously.

“The claims in the social media posts were investigated immediately. An initial assessment by the PSA found no evidence of a leak in the National ID database,” it said.

The PSA said, however, it is conducting further investigation into the alleged data leak and assured the public that measures are in place to safeguard the security and integrity of the National ID system.

It also urged the public to be wary of unverified information circulating online.
