Retail grocery chain Super8 recently held its two-day summer sale where members received discounts and deals on essential and basic items, helping them to combat inflation.

“We’ve always been committed to making essential and basic products accessible and affordable to Filipinos,” said Super8 chief executive Alvin Lim.

“The Super8 Summer Sale is our way to show gratitude to our loyal customers for their continued support, especially during this time of rising inflation,” he said.

Inflation ticked up slightly in February on higher food prices.

Lim said Super8’s customer base includes both resellers, such as community sari-sari stores and end-consumers. Inflation makes both groups more budget-conscious, with resellers facing additional pressure to drive revenue.

The Super8 Summer Sale, the first major event for the company this year, allowed members to save on essentials and try products from partner retailers. Discounts were available on individual items or groups of items, with savings of up to 30 percent offered.

Lim expressed hope that these discounts would translate into lower prices for goods sold by resellers to their communities. He said Super8 typically has at least 1,000 items on promotion at any given time.

Attendees enjoyed additional activities during the event, including sampling stations to try products before purchase, and brand segments featuring cooking shows, talk shows, celebrity meet-and-greets and game shows.

Among the retail partners that participated in the event are Alaska Milk Corp., Universal Robina Corp., Nutri-Asia Inc., First PGMC Enterprises Inc., JNTL Consumer Health Philippines Inc., Unilever Philippines Inc., Peerless Products Manufacturing Corp., Nestle Philippines and others.
