The Department of Energy (DOE) said Friday it endorsed to system and transmission operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) 17 power generation projects for the conduct of a system impact study (SIS).
“In February 2024, the DOE issued 17 SIS endorsements to the NGCP composed of one amendment and 16 new applications,” the DOE said in a report.
The SIS will determine the capacity of the power grid to accommodate additional capacities and identify necessary improvements needed such as transmission lines, transformers, or substations.
Among the endorsed projects are Casiligan Solar Power Corp.’s 45-megawatt San Juan solar project in Zambales, Apolaki One Inc.’s 50-MW Mulanay wind farm in Quezon, First Gen Visayas Energy Inc.’s 100-MW San Nicolas 1 wind project in Pangasinan and Tera Renewables 10 Corp.’s 322-MW Minalabac 1 solar project in Camarines Sur.
The DOE also endorsed Echo Wind Power Corp.’s 500-MW Mindoro wind project in Oriental Mindoro, Luzon Cleanergy Generation Inc.’s 132.8-MW Bangui 2 wind project in Ilocos Norte, Earth Sol Energy Corp.’s 84.5-MW Bongabon wind project in Nueva Ecija and Bohol Solar Energy Inc.’s 45-MW Sikatuna solar power project.
Other endorsed projects are Radius Solar Energy Corp.’s 160-MW Radius solar floating project in Laguna, Vortex Offshore Wind Corp.’s 600-MW Basiad Bay offshore wind project in Quezon and Camarines Norte, Northern Palawan Power Generation Corp.’s 50-MW Nazareno solar power project in Bataan and LakesunEnergy Inc.’s 126-MW Sagay solar on water PV power plant in Negros Occidental.
The DOE also endorsed for grid impact study Casilagan Solar Power Corp.’s 115-MW Tuy solar project in Batangas, SMGP BESS Power Inc.’s 80-MW Mariveles battery energy storage in Bataan, Cleanergy 1 Inc.’s 192.541-MW Ubay solar project in Bohol and Northern Sun Power Inc.’s 345.83-MW Currimao solar project in Ilocos Norte.
It also approved the amendment to the previously issued SIS to Olympia Violago Water and Power Inc. for its 600-MW Wawa pumped-storage 1 hydro project in Rizal.
The agency so far endorsed 30 projects for SIS to NGCP since January.
