NAIC, Cavite—Standard Insurance, one of the leading insurers in the country, joined the “Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody” program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
“We are dedicated to the adoption of the rivers, actively advocating for their cleanliness and preservation. Our efforts will be directed towards enhancing the rivers’ health and ensuring the sustainability of their surrounding ecosystems,” said Standard Insurance Co. Inc. chairman Ernesto Echauz.
Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody is one of DENR’s priority programs being implemented nationwide through the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
Private company partners commit to enhancing the environment of the waterway they’ve chosen to adopt under the program.
This involves various initiatives such as routine cleanup endeavors, dredging, educational campaigns, community engagement efforts and training sessions for relevant stakeholders.
Standard Insurance adopted the Kay-Alamang River, while Filipinas Paradise Homes, also owned by the Echauz family, adopted the Sahing river.
“We will be dredging the rivers, as well as coordinate with the nearby piggeries not to discharge their waste into the water. We will also conduct activities to clean, maintain and preserve our rivers,” Echauz said.
There are 551 adopted waterbodies and 136 donor partners, according to the DENR.
It said that on Cavite, there are 11 new adopters of Camachile River, Imus River, Ikloy River, Sahing River, Timalan River, Kay-Alamang River, Timalan River, Baranca De Sipit Creek and Taghas Creek/
