De Leon returns as national treasurer

Former National Treasurer Rosalia De Leon will be back as the head of the Bureau of Treasury, the Finance Department said.

Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III confirmed De Leon’s return as the country’s treasurer during the Foundation for Economic Forum fellowship meeting at Manila Golf and Country Club in Makati City.

De Leon will replace Roberto Tan.

“I said it is up to them when they want to decide to hand over,” Dominguez said.

De Leon served as a senior advisor to the Executive Director for Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, the Philippines, Suriname, and Trinidad & Tobago in the World Bank.

De Leon served as the National Treasurer from 2012 to 2014. She was replaced by Tan, who also came back from the World Bank.

De Leon earned her Master of Arts in Development Economics from Williams College Massachusetts and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of the Philippines.
