The famous Taguig Tenement basketball court is one of the top choices by the International Basketball Federation for its street basketball play.

In a Facebook post, FIBA came out with six basketball venues from different parts of the world and asked netizens to choose where they think is the best for them to play street basketball.

The courts of choice are found in Taguig, Philippines; Los Angeles, California; Paris, France; Dubrovnic Croatia; Munich, Germany and in the Adriatic Sea which is part of Slovenia.

“You can choose only one spot to play! Which one is your pick?” said the FIBA post.

Eght hours later, Taguig has emerged as the frontrunner thus far with 2.7K reactions and 100 comments, followed by Slovenia with 1.7K reactions and 44 comments.

The Taguig Tenement court, located south of Metro Manila, has become an emotional favorite due to the mural featuring the black and white image of the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant hugging his daughter Gianna.

Made by the members of the Tenement Visual Artists, the Kobe-Gigi mural came about in January this year as a commemoration of the death anniversary of the father and daughter, who died in a helicopter crash in California.

The mural instantly went viral and was even shown at the Staples Center video board in Los Angeles during the Lakers’ tribute to Kobe prior to the first game of the team’s 2021 NBA Season.

The Kobe-Gigi mural has already been changed last August with the portraits of Tokyo Olympic medalists Hidilyn Diaz, Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, and Eumir Marcial to honor their feats.

The Tenement court, which has become a landmark where basketball and arts meet, regularly rotates mural images—from Michael Jordan, Manny Pacquiao to LeBron James and Steph Curry and the Filipino frontliners during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A landmark in the local hoops scene, the famed court has become a venue where sports meets art.

Among those who visited the Tenement courts were NBA stars James, Bryant, and Filipino-American Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz.

The Slovenia basketball court, constructed in a barge beside a yacht, is majestically situated at the Adriatic sea.
