A drizzle on Sunday morning did not prevent supporters of Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso from holding a motorcade where around 1,000 motorcycle riders and at least 100 cars and vehicles joined what organizers dubbed as “The Blue Wave Caravan.”
The “Blue Wave Caravan” was held during Domagoso’s 47th birthday. He was born on Oct. 24, 1974. His running mate, Dr. Willie Ong, has the same birthdate and turned 58 years old.
Despite the light rains, the participants assembled in Plaza Moriones in Tondo as early as 6 am.
Most of the motorcycle riders belong to various rider organizations in Manila.
From Moriones, Tondo, the “Blue Wave” caravan proceeded to Smokey Mountain and passed through the Manila City Hall then to Quiapo Church and proceeding to Quezon Boulevard.
The motorcade was scheduled to pass thru Quezon Memorial Circle going to Commonwealth Avenue toward Litex Market before going to Caloocan City and returning to Manila on Plaza Moriones.
Last Friday, Domagoso administered the oath to dozens of leaders and volunteers from sectoral and volunteer groups who pledged their support to his presidential campaign.
Groups and organizations based in different parts of the country who took their oath of support before the mayor include Pilipinas God First: Samahang Agila para kay Kuya Isko; Pilipinas God First Movement: One Sulu for Isko; Pilipinas God First: United Bangsamoro Isko for President Movement; Barangay Isko and Barangay Isko Youth (NCR and CALABARZON); Spread Salam Association; Scouts Royale Brotherhood (Oriental Mindoro); Sangguniang Kabataan (SK); and Tau Gamma. The groups represent fraternities, businesses, and youth sectors.
Meanwhile, Domagoso and Aksyon Demokratiko continue to flex their political muscle as he swears in dozens of new members to the party.
Taking their oaths were incumbents and candidates for gubernatorial, mayoral, and local posts from Ifugao, Abra, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Cavite, and Eastern Samar.
Two party-list organizations, ACTS-OFW Party List and MP Nation, one originally associated with another presidential aspirant, also threw in their support for the mayor.
Domagoso spoke anew of his plan on cutting taxes on fuel to ensure inclusive and sustainable economic activity.
The atmosphere became light and joyous toward the end of the event when the different groups had their photos taken with Domagoso, Ong, and senatorial candidate Samira Gutoc.
More groups are scheduled to be sworn in the coming days by Domagoso, who is running on a platform of good, clean, transparent, and inclusive governance, fast, effective and efficient government action and leadership by example.
