Dutertes still top survey, but Isko prevails in NCR

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and her father, President Rodrigo R. Duterte, stood out from the list of Filipino citizens’ choices for president and vice president for next year’s election, the latest RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD) survey implied.

In a statement, the pollster said 32.25% of the respondents preferred the first daughter over other possible candidates. She was succeeded by Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso (14.21%), Senator Manny Pacquiao (11.95%), former Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. (11.20%), and Senator Grace Poe (7.62%).

Moreno rated first in National Capital Region (NCR) with 22.31% followed by Marcos (19.07%) who also placed second in equalized by Balance of Luzon (17.08%) while Pacquiao achieved significant figures, ranked second in Visayas (21.73%) and Mindanao (11.09%).

Vice President Leni Robredo of the opposition placed sixth overall with 6.51%, trailed by Sen. Bong Go (4.66%), Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (3.46%), Sen. Panfilo Lacson (3.40%), former Sen. Antonio Trillanes (1.06%) and Sen. Richard Gordon (.50%).

Sara Duterte’l got the highest voter preference in Mindanao, getting 60.17%. It was followed by Visayas (25.11%) and the remaining from Balance of Luzon (21.35%). 

President Duterte is the eminent choice for VP at 21.81%, followed by Domagoso (25.25%), then Marcos at 10.94%, Pacquiao (10.72%) and Senate President Vicente Sotto III (8.57%).

The elder Duterte positioned topmost in the regions of Mindanao (37.47%), Visayas (17.62%), Bal. of Luzon (16.85%) and ranked second in the National Capital Region (15.31%).

Meanwhile, Moreno placed 1st in NCR (19.25%) while second in Visayas (15.45%) and Balance of Luzon (15.17%). Pacquiao marked third in Mindanao (15.07%) and Visayas (14.49%). Marcos ranked third in NCR (13.56%) and Bal. of Luzon (14.04%).

The survey comprised the recently released overall job performance assessment of all City Mayors, Governors, Congressmen, Cabinet and Top Government Officials in the Philippines across the country.

Meanwhile, part of the survey covered is the monthly National Capital Region (NCR) Mayors overall job performance review and the Top 3 Mayors are still the same—Joy Belmonte (86%) of Quezon City, Isko Moreno (85%) of City of Manila, and Vico Sotto (83%) of Pasig City. 

They are followed by Toby Tiangco (78%) of Navotas City at no.4 and Menchie Abalos (65%) of Mandaluyong City ranked fifth. Six to 10 are the following- Rex Gatchalian (74%), Marcy Teodoro of Marikina (75%), Abby Binay (73%) of Makati City, Oca Malapitan (65%) of Caloocan City and Francis Zamora (64%) of San Juan City. 

“It is remarkable to commend that the 17 Mayors in the NCR are now rated positively,” said Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMD.

The independent and non-commissioned survey of 10,000 registered voters as respondents by RP- Mission and Development Foundation Inc (RPMD), held August 1 to 10, with 11 potential candidates for President and Vice President.

Respondents were asked with a direct question “Who would you vote for President if the election will be held today?” at the same time presented with a list of 11 potential candidates as to who will be their preferred choice as the 2022 President and Vice President. Margin of error is +/-2 percentage points.

While the NCR Mayors overall job performance review has 5,750 respondents with margin of error at +/- 3 percentage points.
