DITO Telecommunity Corp. said Friday its mobile subscriber base hit almost one million since its launching three months ago.
“As of today, we are very close to hitting one million subscribers that is a big milestones to DITO,” Adel Tamano, chief administrative officer of DITO, said in a virtual briefing.
DITO’s subscriber base as of June 10 stood at 890,000.
DITO chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago said his company was adding 23 cities and municipalities to its commercial service areas starting Saturday, bringing the total to 123.
“We expect later this month, we should be able to have about 146 to 150 total cities and municipalities that we will be opening for commercial service,” Santiago said.
“Later this year, you will see the aggressiveness of opening up more areas for commercial service because we are about ready to achieve the second year commitment of DITO in terms of coverage. We are about ready to complete the minimum 51 percent population coverage that is required to us by July 8,” he said.
