Pursuing its strong commitment to health and wellness, Milo has collaborated with the Philippine Jump Rope Association and Department of Education to make jump rope a part of everybody’s lives especially among the children.

Milo has launched a campaign to record 10 million jump rope skips for this month of June involving elementary students from around 3,600 schools nationwide, trainers, national athletes and coaches, and ordinary fitness and health buffs.

To make this happen, Milo is distributing 180,000 jump ropes to young students around the country.

“We will literally jumpstart the nation. We will put jump rope on the map and as part of grassroots sports development,” Nestle Phils., Inc. Senior Vice President Veronica Cruz told the online Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday.

“Mula Aparri hanggang Jolo,” added Milo Sports Manager Lester Castillo during the forum also graced by DepEd Undersecretary Tonisito Umali and Rob Layco of PJRA.

“We enjoin everybody to jump rope with us, especially the students. We’re hoping jump rope becomes part of their PE (Physical Education) and then eventually the Palarong Pambansa, the UAAP or NCAA,” Castillo told the forum presented by San Miguel Corporation, MILO, Amelie Hotel Manila, Braska Restaurant, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

On behalf of DepEd, Umali threw their full support to the campaign that actually got going last October when Milo provided jump ropes to students at the Mandaluyong Elementary School.

“We believe that active kids are better learners and this will help them stimulate their system especially at this time when it’s difficult to engage in physical activities,” he said.

“We hope we can teach the PE teachers, too. That’s the direction we want to take. We’re arranging a meeting with our curriculum and instructions people on how to integrate jump rope into PE classes,” added Umali.

Layco said jump rope is the perfect form or exercise or sport at this time of the pandemic because it’s very easy to access.

“All you need is the jump rope and a small space,” he said in the forum powered by Smart and Upstream Media as official webcast partner.
