Police seized more than P1 million worth of shabu from a Taguig City resident who was initially caught for not wearing a face mask.

The suspect Narex Diocolano, a resident of Maharlika Village, was arrested with 155 grams of shabu in his possession.

The  Southern Police District  said that members of the Taguig City police sub-station 9 and mobile patrol unit were conducting their routine operation when they saw Diocolano along Guevarra Street in Barangay of New Lower Bicutan around 2 p.m. Friday.

The police officers alighted from their mobile cars and approached the suspect, but he ran. The authorities gave chase and arrested him.

When the lawmen searched the suspects’ belongings, they found five plastic sachets containing the prohibited substance.

A drug paraphernalia and P1,000 cash money were also recovered from the suspect.

The arresting officers said they regularly conducted ‘Oplan Galugad’ to go after suspected drug dealers and those violating safety protocols imposed by the government while Metro Manila is placed under the general community quarantine status amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.

SPD director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg commended his men from Taguig Police for their latest accomplishment.

The suspect, now detained at the Taguig Custodial Facility, will be charged with violation of Sections 11 and 12 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and City Ordinance No. 12 (Non-wearing of Face Mask).

The seized illegal drugs will be turned over to SPD Crime Laboratory Office.
