The Gen. Tinio U-turn slot in Caloocan City will be re-opened, a day after Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan wrote to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos requesting to reopen it to reduce the weight of traffic on EDSA’s northern end.

Together with Caloocan Rep. Dale “Along” Malapitan, Mayor Oca personally expressed his gratitude to Chairman Abalos following their inspection of the U-turn slot.

“We do not want motorists to experience heavy traffic, so we wrote to MMDA. We are very grateful to Chairman Abalos for responding quickly to our letter,” said Mayor Oca.

At the same time, the mayor promised to place city traffic enforcers in the U-turn slot who will be on duty from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., in response to the MMDA’s request for manpower assistance.

“We thank Mayor Oca and Cong. Along for their help with us. It’s just a matter of helping each other,” MMDA Chairman Abalos replied.
