ANGELES CITY—The city government has extended the business tax payment and business permit renewal without penalties from January 20, 2021 to February 28, 2021.
This, after City Councilor Arvin “Pogs” Suller, sponsored Ordinance 571, seeking for the one month and eight days payment extension.
Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has strongly urged the City Council to pass the Ordinance to help local businesses recover, as they are one of the hardest hit sectors because of the pandemic.
“Isa lang ito sa mga maliit na pamamaraan, na matulungan natin ang mga kababayan nating namumuhanan para makabangon, lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Lazatin said.
The said Ordinance, titled “Granting extension for the filing, assessment and payment of business permits without penalties or surcharges and interests until Feb. 28 as an integral part of the implementation of the public safety and health protocols in the city government due to the circumstances brought about by the pandemic COVID-19,” was unanimously approved by the City Council, led by Presiding Officer Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting.
The business taxpayers can pay from January 4, 2021, where 150 individuals will be allowed to transact inside the city hall.
There will be a numbering system, like the recent process for the payment of Real Property Tax (RPT). This is implemented to observe health protocols undertaken by the city government such as social distancing.
Ordinance proponent Atty. Suller furthered, “Naiintindihan natin ang pinagdadaanan at pangangailangan ng mga kababayan nating nasa business industry, kaya sineguro nating agaran itong matugunan, sa pamamagitan ng ordinansang ito.”
“Malaking tulong din ito para makabangon ang ekonomiya ng ating siyudad, para maengganyo ang mga local businesses, at maramdaman nila na kaisa nila ang city government,” Suller added.
“We recognize their significant contributions in revitalizing our city’s economy, especially during the pandemic.”
