The Bureau of Customs has seized counterfeit goods worth more than P15 million in a warehouse in Meycauayan, Bulacan.
Customs authorities inspected a private warehouse in Pajo, Meycauayan, and discovered that the facility was storing imported alcoholic beverages.
The team also discovered suspected counterfeit products such as bags and food items inside the warehouse with an estimated amount of P15 million.
The warehouse has been sealed and placed under customs custody as further inventory and investigation was conducted.
“Individuals involved may face charges for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act as well as related Intellectual Property Laws for importing counterfeit products,” MICP District Collector Romeo Allan Rosales said.
He warned importers to refrain from importing fake and counterfeit goods and advised the public from patronizing fake goods, especially those sold for human consumption as those may have harmful effects on the body.
MICP, the country’s largest Port, remains committed in curbing smuggling and the entry of fake and counterfeit goods in line with the government’s drive to strengthen border protection in the country.
