The Bureau of Customs collected P44.691 billion in revenues in November, surpassing its collection target for the month by 5.85 percent or P42.22 million.

Based on a preliminary report from the agency’s Financial Service, 12 of 17 collection districts hit their November 2020 targets: Port of Manila, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Batangas, Cebu, Tacloban, Surigao, Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark and Aparri.

Meanwhile, the bureau condemned all abandoned and overstaying cargoes at the Port of Clark, including expired medicines and cosmetic products without FDA health approval at the Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The 4,146 kilograms of goods that were condemned include assorted expired medicines, food supplements, cosmetic products and expired foodstuff that were imported without permits.

From January to date, the agency said, it had already collected P493.324 billion, or 97.47 percent of its 2020 target of P506.150 billion.

For the last month of the year, Customs only has to collect P12.826 billion to meet the full-year goal.

The 2020 collection target is 30.8 percent lower than the original target of P731 billion, and by 6.6 percent from the revised target of P541.703 billion set in May.

The lower revenue target is in view of the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the country.
