No coaching for now, just farming.

While waiting for the decision of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines regarding his appeal, former University of Santo Tomas coach Aldin Ayo has gone into farming in his property in Capuy, Sorsogon.

Taking care of his livestock and plants in his farm has kept Ayo busy after he was indefinitely suspended by the board of trustees of the UAAP.

This has also kept Ayo productive while the Joint Administrative Order group of the Philippine Sports Commission, the Games and Amusement Board, and the Department of Health, gather reports on what members of the UST Growling Tigers men’s basketball team were doing in Sorsogon back in July.

“I (also) went back home to my farm, and this I want to share with those individuals who also desire to come to my place,” said Ayo, who hopes that the UAAP board of trustees will reconsider his case.

Since getting sanctioned by the league, Ayo expressed his confidence that board members will change their mind after the Office of the Sorsogon Governor and the Philippine National Police decided to vindicate him of any unlawful act on Monday last week.

Learning how to raise pigs and do farming activities and not basketball training done under a low-risk area, comprised most of the tasks that members of the Tigers did when they held a camp in Sorsogon last June, the PNP found out.

Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero, in a memo issued on Sept. 23, said he is in agreement with the findings of PNP probers.

Ayo said he felt vindicated after police investigators found that, “there is a clear exhibition of legitimate activities undertaken by former UST Head Coach Aldin Ayo.”

“These pertinent matters, if properly considered, may significantly alter the decision of the UAAP board,” said Ayo in a statement Friday evening.

The findings came out three weeks after Ayo resigned from his post and the board of directors of the UAAP indefinitely banned him.

Ayo is grateful that the PNP went to his home to find out exactly what took place during those times.

“The result of the investigation conducted by proper government authorities, the PNP, on the ground, at my house and farm, will certainly complement my position on the matter,” wrote Ayo.
