Isko: Manila picks up neighbors’ creek trash

Manila City Mayor Francisco Domagoso on Monday exhorted nearby local government units to properly manage its waste materials in rivers and creeks which could result in polluting the city.

In an interview over ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, Domagoso related that part of a local government unit along their  boundary is loaded with trash, but did not identify the neighboring city.

He  said it was the local government unit of Manila that removed the waste materials in the concerned area “loaded” with waste.

“In cooperating with the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), modesty aside, you can see it in our Facebook that  we were getting the wastes though we already knew it’s in a boundary area,” said Domagoso.

The Manila mayor said he just wanted to show their sincere approach to address solid waste materials in their creek.

He expressed hope that the government, whether local or national, will be strict on this matter especially concerning factories.

“We are talking about large volumes of waste that could end up in the creeks and rivers in our city,” he added.
