Angeles City—Two local officials from this city—Director IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel—have taken the city government’s “Luntian sa Barangay Lingap” project to heart, dso9nating harvests from their own backyard.

Calaguas is also the Clark International Airport Corporation Vice President for Operations.

During the pandemic, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin encouraged city folks to practice urban gardening—by planting vegetables in their backyard, or in unused lots near their homes.

Calaguas and Manuel followed the city mayor's advice and started cultivating their own vegetable garden.

Recently, the latter posted photos on her facebook account showing crops that are ready for harvesting such as eggplants, tomatoes, and chilli.

"Very relaxing, these planting during the pandemic,” Manuel said.

The two Angeles officials decided to donate these harvested crops to the community kitchen at City College of Angeles, the official community quarantine facility in the city.

The vegetables will be used in preparing the meals of Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) staying there.

Aside from serving PUMs, Lazatin has established community kitchen in CCA to also provide free meals to frontline workers from the City Health Office, Civilian Security Unit, and Environmental Management System.
