The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth is once again involved in allegations of corruption, this time involving P15-B worth of funds amid the pandemic. Some fear that the state-run agency could go bankrupt by 2022.

‘Newsmakers’ host Winnie Monsod

Today, economist and Newsmakers host Solita “Winnie” Monsod talks to one of the whistle-blowers, former Anti-Fraud Legal Officer Atty. Thorsson Montes Keith. Keith reveals how the cash advance payment scheme called the ‘Interim Reimbursement Mechanism’ (IRM) was used to unevenly advance payment to 771 hospitals since April.

Professor Monsod discusses how PhilHealth has addressed the corruption allegations with its Corporate Communication Department’s Senior Manager Rey Baleña. Also joining Monsod is former Commission on Audit Commissioner and Officer-in-Charge Heidi Mendoza.

Meanwhile, in this week’s “Tita Reacts” segment, Tita Winnie goes against three GMA News and Public Affairs personalities—Ivan Mayrina, Mariz Umali, and Pia Arcangel—for the ‘Real or Unreal?’ food challenge. Will they be able to accurately identify the real food from several hyperrealist photos and drawings?

Tita Winnie’s #plantita journey continues as she finally plants some seed into the ground. Will Tita Winnie’s daily talk with her plant babies help her succeed in the container gardening challenge?

Newsmakers airs Monday, 8:30 p.m. on GMA News TV.
