A low-pressure area east of Isabela has developed into a tropical depression called “Julian” on Friday, and is the 10th tropical cyclone to form this year.

In its 5 p.m. cyclone alert, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the tropical depression had already intensified into a tropical storm.

The storm was forecast to move west to west-northwest on Friday night, to move north today, Saturday, and then northwest on Sunday.

The tropical cyclone is expected to stay over the Philippine Sea throughout the forecast period, but “far from the landmass.”

The storm is forecast to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Aug. 31. It was upgraded to tropical storm at 2 p.m. on Friday
