For breaking health protocols, Barangay Ginebra big man Japeth Aguilar and Rain or Shine rookie Adrian Wong were each fined P20,000 each by the Philippine Basketball Association.

They were instructed to go through swab testing by the PBA Commissioner’s Office yesterday.

The two were penalized for practicing in a private facility, defying instructions and guidelines which prohibited them from doing so.

The penalties were handed down after league commissioner Willie Marcial reviewed a video showing them playing in a game.

The video eventually went viral on social media.

Aguilar and Wong were summoned by commissioner Marcial to shed light on the incident that took place recently.

The two players were caught doing scrimmages with Gilas Pilipinas pool member Isaac Go playing in a practice venue in San Juan.

Marcial directed the two players to take swab tests by Tuesday.

Once they are done, Aguilar and Wong will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period before taking another swab test as a confirmatory course of action.

Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro and PBA legal consultant Atty. Melvin Mendoza were present in the deliberation.

Castro said Aguilar and Wong will also go through 30 hours of community service.

The commissioner said the two PBA players were apologetic for their actions.
