Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano has ordered city police commander Celso Rodriguez to strictly enforce the 15-day lockdown imposed in two areas of the village following the surge of COVID-19 cases.

Cayetano also gave directives to Barangay captain Roel Pacayra and his councilors, and Dr. Glenda Latorre from the barangay health center for the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Puroks 5 and 6 from June 17 to July 1.

The city government decided to put the two areas under ECQ to help curb the spread of COVID-19 and ensure the safety of residents. The decision was also based on the recommendation of City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU).

The following guidelines will be implemented under this localized lockdown:

• Movement of all residents shall be restricted only to purchase of essential goods; residents must have their Taguig Unified Quarantine Pass when going out to buy essentials.

• In accordance with the rules on ECQ, employees of establishments providing essential goods and services who reside in Puroks 5 and 6 shall be allowed to report to work.

• All residents of Purok 5 & 6 are advised to use the next 24 hours to inform their employers and other family members of the localized quarantine.

Meanwhile, the city government launched a new COVID-19 response team dubbed as Emergency Response for Notifiable Infections and Emerging Diseases (ERNIE).

The team was created to strengthen the campaign to contain COVID-19 and is dedicated for all COVID-19 related concerns per barangay.

The team's functions focus on contact tracing, monitoring of COVID-19 patients and close contacts, determining appropriate quarantine for patients, managing the needed resources, submitting data to CEDSU for contact tracing.

The Taguig City government placed two areas in Lower Bicutan under the enhanced community quarantine for 15 days.

The local government decided to place these areas under ECQ from beginning Wednesday night of June 17 until July 1 upon the recommendation of the CEDSU due to the clustering of COVID-19 cases.

The ERNIE team, according to Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano, will closely coordinate with the Barangay

Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT) in its roles and responsibilities.
