Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced on Tuesday that it would launch next month flight operations with special seats designed for physical distancing amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.

Starting July 1, 2020, all flights of PAL and PAL Express will have ‘distancing seats’, according to PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.

Villaluna said the airline’s Premium Economy cabin class will have purely ‘distancing seats’ while the PAL/PALex Economy cabin class will have a mix of regular and ‘distancing seats’.

“You may reserve a distancing seat if you book on a Premium Economy fare or Economy Flex fare for a PAL or PALex flight scheduled July 1st onwards,” she added.

In the social distancing sections, an aisle or middle seat will be left empty in defined rows per aircraft, Villaluna said.

She also said the new product will be included in specific fare classes (Economy Flex and Premium Economy Class).

Villaluna urged air travelers to avail these seats for flights departing July 1 onwards by calling PAL’s hotline, or by visiting any PAL Ticket Office, or by contacting travel agents beginning Tuesday (June 16, 2020).

Meanwhile, PAL operated a number of international and domestic flights on Tuesday.

The international flights include PR-8102 (Manila-Los Angeles-Barbados-Vancouver), PR0-8117 (Vancouver -Clark-Manila), PR-8725 (Bombay- Manila, and PR-111 (Guam-Manila).

Domestic operations in Manila include flights to and from Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Davao, Pagadian, and Tacloban.
