Malls in Cavite province were allowed to reopen on Wednesday, a day after Governor Jonvic Remulla and mall owners met and discussed new guidelines.

In a Facebook post, Remulla said mall operations will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for local customers only. Quarantine pass is needed among mall-goers, he said.

Security personnel has been ordered to manage properly people who are waiting outside the establishments.

According to Remulla, those who will visit groceries and supermarkets will be limited.

"One customer out, one customer in. This time is not your right, this is a privilege for your own good. Do not abuse this, as many other customers will need to buy their needs," he said.

"Frontliners priority lane will continue. You are our heroes. You are welcome in any mall anywhere," the governor added.

Remulla said if protocols inside malls would properly be implemented, the local government might also lift the liquor ban.

On Monday, Remulla directed the temporary closure of all shopping malls in the province, which is now under general community quarantine, due to violation of social distancing guidelines.

“For other good news, our targeted testing for frontliners is continuous. I will release the results as they come,” he said.

The governor added, in jest: “I'm honestly talking about liquor ban. If everything goes well with mall policy we will lay out the policy for you to see Pareng Empi and Kuya Alfonso. You can now go to Barangay Ginebra. You're going to go Mr. Johnny. Pray for San Miguel. And you can ride a red horse.”
