The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday arrested an internet personality for alleged violations of the optometry law.
The NBI arrested Francis Leo Marcos, a businessman, who became known online for his "Mayaman Challenge," where he urges neighbors in his affluent Quezon City neighborhood to give aid to the poor amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bureau said Marcos was arrested by the NBI's cybercrime division over a case in Baguio City for violation of Republic Act No. 8050.
Details were not immediately given by the NBI. The NBI said his official YouTube page has over 1 million followers, while several Facebook pages and support groups are under his name, with tens of thousands of subscribers.
