Pampanga secures more NFA rice for ECQ

City of San Fernando—As Luzon braces for the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine, the provincial government of Pampanga secured some P90 million worth of rice from the National Food Authority Wednesday.

The fresh purchase would be readied for rice subsidies of 505 barangays across the province. Each 50 kilos bag of rice cost P1,250 much lower as compared to well-milled and commercial rice being sold in the market.

Gov. Dennis Pineda, who led other provincial officials during the site inspection of NFA warehouse in this city, said rice subsidies would ease down the impact of extended ECQ to the people of Pampanga.

“The rice subsidies is part of the series of food assistance to Pampanga residents since the start of ECQ on March 16,” said the governor while supervising his team who visited NFA warehouse.

The rice procurement is projected to augment the provincial government’s continuing rice aid distribution as lockdown to remain until May 15.
