Following the government’s declaration of the national state of calamity in the country, some 7,000 regular and casual employees of Parañaque City will receive their full midyear bonus, Mayor Edwin Olivarez announced over the weekend.

Aside from the mid-year bonus, all employees will also receive their P6,000 clothing allowance.

Olivarez said that upon the recommendation of local Task Force COVID-19 and the city finance committee, the city government has initially set aside P20 million relief fund to help displaced city hall workers.

“Our affected employees–permanent, co-terminous, contractual, casual and job order employees–will receive their full monthly salaries while the mid-year bonus and their clothing allowance will be given until Monday next week,” the mayor said.

While Luzon is under enhanced community quarantine, city hall employees can obtain their perks via their respective Land Bank automated teller machine, or ATM and will not eed to go to the city hall, according to city treasurer Dr. Anthony Pulmano.

Pulmano reported that health workers, Task-Force Covid-19 members, essential workers, job order employees and other frontliners, will also receive hazard pay and additional allowance from the city government after the crisis is over.

Pulmano said this amount is in addition to the regular monthly salary the employees have been receiving during this period of calamity due to the spread of the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

“The early release of the bonus pay is to augment the financial needs of employees who would be economically affected by the crisis,” he said.

Last year, the city government posted an income of P5.3 billion or an increase of P1.6 billion from P3.7 billion earning, attributed to tax collection efficiency and the ease of doing business in Paranaque.
