MWM Terminals Inc., a consortium led by Megawide  Construction Corp., said it temporarily suspended the operations of Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange after the government placed the whole of Luzon under an “enhanced community quarantine” to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019.

“The suspension covers both transport and commercial operations of the landport,” MWM Terminals said.

“To ensure the safety and protection of the PITX facility, thorough disinfection and sanitation efforts are regularly conducted within the premises,” it said.

MWS said despite the shutdown of main landport facilities, PITX functions as one of the staging areas for the Department of Transportation’s free bus service for medical frontliners.

“PITX is honored to be of assistance in the said initiative, which transports health workers and major frontliners to hospitals and health facilities within the southwest area of Metro Manila,” the company said.

Buses transport passengers daily at 5 a.m., 7 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

MWM Terminal said PITX continued to work closely with the Transportation Department and other concerned agencies for the resumption of transport and terminal operations.

“We will advise the public should there be any updates on the matter,” the company said.
