The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas warned the public on Wednesday against fraudulent e-mails, text messages, letters or any communication seeking submission of and payment for documents purportedly required by the monetary authority.

The BSP said in a statement scammers, pretending to be authorized BSP officials, provide these documents to individuals, corporations or institutions.

“Scammers claim that such documents will facilitate financial transactions in favor of the recipients, in exchange for confidential personal or corporate information, and subject to fees or charges,” the BSP said.

BSP advised the public that it does not issue or guarantee commercial documents or products. It also does not transact with individuals, corporations or institutions at random.
