The Land Transportation Office now has a centralized system of managing all the data in its information base after German technology company Dermalog installed and fired up its Digital Governance Solution.

The digital governance system allows LTO to digitize and centralize all information it acquires, and services it delivers, into one structure that can be controlled and monitored at ist headquarters in Metro Manila, an official statement said Wednesday.

The launching last week of the pilot project was witnessed by LTO director Asst. Secretary Edgar Galvante himself.

The new system integrates all LTO services in a single database that includes all relevant data of Philippine citizens who have acquired a drivers license.

The information on the system includes the drivers license (of course), automobiles registered to the said individual, penalties and payments for offenses committed like speeding or any kind of moving violations.

The new system allows LTO employees to process customer requests faster as they obtain all information at a glance with a few simple clicks, saving time and cost for the LTO.

“The new system is one of the key steps on our way to becoming a frontline government agency showcasing fast and efficient public service for a progressive land transport sector,” said Galvante at the ceremony last Monday.

Included in the service is a user-friendly web-based interface that allows a citizen/client to acces his/her records and see if he/she has any outstanding obligations related to his or her account like an expired driver’s license, expired car registration, violation tickets, payment receipts and more.

The solution also provides a reminder system that prods the client to renew an about to expire license or car registration or to pay an overdue violent penalty. It also allows the client to begin the processing of his/her renewals and payments within the system to expedite their activity at the LTO office.

Future online payment solutions are in the process of being integrated into the web-based user program to allow a client to pay for his/her dues or penalties using GCash, debit or credit cards.

To implement LTO’s extensive modernization, DERMALOG has also built a complete state ofthe art data center in Metro Manila. DERMALOG had already provided a system for issuing biometric drivers’ licenses to the Land Transportation Office in 2017.

With a total 32 security features and additional biometric features, it is the most secure document in the Philippines.

Up to 20,000 licenses are issued by LTO per day so that about 14 million citizens already hold a biometric driver’s license.
