Aetas from the Magbukun tribe received 300 food packs from the Municipal Government of Abucay, Bataan. The natives, led by Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Jay-R Reyes, who represents them to the Sangguniang Bayan ng Abucay, greatly appreciated the food packs of rice, canned goods, and personal items.

Abucay Mayor Robin Tagle said the occasion coincides with the meeting with Aetas to discuss the issue regarding the preservation of Magbukun culture, including their dialect, which the local government is trying to promote.

Coinciding with this development, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, under the leadership of Bataan Vice Gov. Cris Garcia, passed a resolution extending assistance to the Aetas to develop and safeguard their educational needs by promoting their culture.

Tagle said the municipal government recognizes the Magbukun language for them to develop so that they can communicate with each other for a progressive community.
