PLDT Group’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Advocacy through Technology (IDEATe) program is a finalist for the prestigious 2024 Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards in the Best Use of Mobile for Accessibility and Inclusion category.
This recognition highlights the program’s impactful work in empowering people with disabilities and bridging the digital divide.
“The program not only bolstered digital skills, but also fostered a strong sense of community and empowerment among people with disabilities,” said PLDT Group AVP for shareholder management Stephanie V. Orlino.
In its pilot year in 2023, IDEATe delivered life-changing skills to over 100 participants, including visually and physically impaired individuals.
The program offers assistive technology training; business and tech skills development; and Disability sensitivity workshops
With an estimated 1.5 million registered persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Philippines as of January 2024, IDEATe addresses a critical need.
The GLOMOs, held annually, are the telecommunications industry’s most coveted awards. Judged by leading experts, the winners will be announced on February 28th at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
