Enrique Gil once again dismissed speculations of a breakup, confirming that he and Liza Soberano are still together and happy despite their hectic schedules.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, the actor addressed questions about his relationship status.
“We’re happy. We’re just really busy,” answered Enrique.
“I think we just realized in life, that we shouldn’t always be just centered around each other. We can do more, and grow more if we go our own paths, we can achieve more. And it just makes us better,” he added.
In a separate interview with Manila Standard Entertainment, he then explained that they both agreed to explore more of their craft outside their love team.
“It’s like, instead of just being stuck on both of us, we do our own thing. We can achieve so much more. We’re pretty grown up compared to before we were young,” Enrique stated.
Enrique is focusing on his showbiz comeback with I Am Not Big Bird, a comedy film where his character is mistaken for an adult film star by locals in Thailand.
On the other hand, Liza has been occupied with her work in the United States on Lisa Frankenstein, which premiered on Feb. 9, while Enrique’s I Am Not Big Bird unspools on Feb. 14.
“She is very focused on what she is doing. She even said that she doesn’t have time for herself anymore. That’s how focused she is,” replied Enrique.
The dancer-actor then revealed that Liza is currently working on seven projects that she is also producing.
“When I started my production company, I think she also got the idea to start her own, so that’s awesome,” he continued.
When asked if he would be able to spend time with Liza on Valentine’s Day, Enrique was quick to answer that the actress is busy promoting her Hollywood debut film yet expressed her optimism about attending the premiere night of I Am Not Big Bird.
“She’s in the US now for the promo. But she’ll be back [in the Philippines] on the 13th for an event, for her endorsement. But she said if it finishes quickly, she can attend the premiere night. But she also has to leave back for the US again. So, I’m not sure. I’m not sure about her schedule yet. It was so hard with her schedule,” said Enrique.
With their busy schedule, Enrique and Liza continued to support each other’s endeavors. When asked about his love advice, he emphasized the importance of sacrifices when it comes to love.
“It’s tough. Love is really about sacrifice. If you do something to better yourself for the future, just go for it. It’s hard but you can do it,” he told Manila Standard Entertainment.
Enrique also revealed that during the shoot for I Am Not Big Bird he consistently sent photos of the set and his scenes to Liza.
