Shenzhen-based automaker BYD has once again secured its position as the global leader in New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales, exceeding its sales target of 3 million vehicles in 2023. This achievement marks the second consecutive year that BYD has dominated the worldwide electric vehicle market.

In addition to its NEV success, BYD also made its mark in the overall automotive sales landscape by securing a place in the Top 10 for the year 2023. Furthermore, BYD continued to outperform other car brands and manufacturers in terms of domestic vehicle sales in China.

The year 2023 witnessed a remarkable surge for BYD, with the company selling a total of 3,024,417 vehicles, signifying a substantial 61.9% increase compared to the previous year. Out of this impressive figure, approximately 1.6 million vehicles were Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), while 1.4 million were Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) manufactured by BYD.

BYD’s supremacy extended to the fourth quarter of 2023, where the company led global sales in Battery Electric Vehicles. During this period, BYD sold an impressive 526,409 all-electric vehicles, outpacing other BEV manufacturers and solidifying its position as the undisputed champion of BEV sales.

In the Philippines, Mobility Access Philippines Ventures, Inc. (MAPVI) serves as the exclusive distributor of BYD cars. As a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation’s automotive arm, AC Motors, MAPVI is committed to driving the group’s sustainability goals and aiding the realization of its Net-Zero Strategy by introducing and selling BYD Electric Vehicles in the country.

“We at MAPVI are thrilled and immensely proud to witness BYD, our partners in sustainable mobility, achieve their targets for 2023,” expressed Antonio Zara III, President of MAPVI. “With BYD’s unwavering support and strong presence in the Philippines, we eagerly anticipate making significant contributions to the brand in the coming years as it sets even higher goals.”

In 2023, BYD witnessed a remarkable surge in international sales, which soared by an astounding 334.2%. The company successfully sold 242,765 vehicles across more than 70 countries spanning six continents.
