THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday disclosed that 108 policemen have been dismissed from the service due to drug-related offenses under the Marcos administration.

The PNP records showed that from July 1, 2022 to Jan. 3, 2024, a total of 289 cops were allogedly involved in illegal drugs. Ten of them were demoted, 60 suspended, and three were reprimanded.

Some privileges of 108 dismissed law enforcers were withheld, the PNP said.

In a video message released Tuesday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr said 177 police officers have been charged with drug-related offenses in Metro Manila alone under his administration.

“Alam naman natin na kung minsan, nadadala ang ating mga opisyal at siyempre hindi natin maaaring pabayaan ‘yan. Kaya’t ang nangyari, 177 police officers were charged with drug-related offenses, including the planting of evidence, unlawful arrest and excessive violence dito pa lang sa NCR (We know that sometimes our officers get involved and we will not ignore that. So, 177 police officers were charged with drug-related offenses, including planting of evidence, unlawful arrest, and excessive violence just here in NCR),” the President said.
