At a recent media event for the Always Loved concert, singer and host Pops Fernandez remained tight-lipped about potential successors to her “Concert Queen” throne.

Elaborating on her stance, Pops emphasized that the title encompasses more than just vocal skills, energetic dancing, or sold-out shows. It demands positive influence and setting a strong example for the audience.

While acknowledging the abundance of talented artists, Pops believes a unique title or moniker holds significant weight for the next heir to the crown.

“We have so many talented young stars today, but they should have a title they can claim as their own,” Pops remarked.

Meanwhile, as the Concert Queen celebrates her 45 years in the business, she reminisces about her past achievements, such as filling Rizal Stadium (Always Pops concert) as a teenage newcomer, attracting over 100 thousand concertgoers—an unforgettable highlight of her singing career. Her songs “Dito” and “Little Star” hold particular significance, defining her musical journey.

“I have many career highlights, but that concert and those songs truly left a mark,” she said.

The song “Little Star” has taken on a new meaning for Pops as it now symbolizes her granddaughter, Baby Phin. Pops admitted to the difficulty of performing these songs, especially as “Little Star” is now associated with her granddaughter.

“I’ll surely perform those songs,” she added.

Nevertheless, she acknowledged that these songs are meaningful in her 40-year journey and will be included in the concert, even if it brings tears, as they hold sentimental value.

Pops keeps the suspense alive for her Always Loved concert on Feb. 9 to 10 at Theater at Solaire, refusing to unveil all her surprise guests. However, two OPM legends, Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano, are confirmed to make significant contributions to the two-night show.
