Off-grid electricity generator DMCI Power Corp. (DPC) said Monday it recorded a 7-percent increase in sales volume in 2023 to 454 gigawatt hours (GWh) from 426 GWh in 2022.

“Our sales have grown steadily for 11 consecutive quarters because of solid demand and our targeted investments in underserved and unserved areas, reflecting our dedication to missionary electrification,” said DPC president Antonino Gatdula Jr.

Palawan overtook Masbate as DPC’s largest market last year, contributing 44 percent to the total sales volume, while Masbate and Oriental Mindoro accounted for 34 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

Palawan energy sales expanded by 12 percent to 200 GWh from 179 GWh on the combined effect of higher capacity and demand.

DPC commenced commercial operations of its P1.5-billion thermal power plant in the province in August, coinciding with a surge in both local and international tourist arrivals in the area.

Energy dispatch in Masbate went up by 5 percent to 156 GWh from 148 GWh on higher demand and plant availability.

Meanwhile, sales to Oriental Mindoro declined by 2 percent from 99 GWh to 97 GWh due to the increased availability of renewable energy power plants.

DPC is the largest off-grid energy generator in the Philippines in terms of installed capacity.

It had total installed capacity of around 160 MW as of end-2023, up by 17 percent from the previous year .

The company operates in the Small Power Utilities Group or off-grid areas of Masbate, Palawan and Oriental Mindoro.
