Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano has approved an ordinance exempting employees from securing a Mayor’s Permit/Clearance.

This means private employers in Taguig will no longer require job applicants to secure the permit.

Per Ordinance No. 109 passed on Dec. 18 by Taguig’s Sangguniang Panlungsod, employees, including the self-employed, those seeking employment, or practicing a profession, are already exempted from submitting the said permit.

This ordinance modifies a provision in the Taguig Tax Revenue Code by adding exempted individuals to ease the burden on them as they work.

The ordinance saves job seekers not only time but also additional expenses, the local government said.

The amendment aligns with Taguig’s policy to encourage residents to actively seek employment and engage in their professions, in line with Section 16 of the Local Government Code of 1991, which emphasizes fair and just practices under the general welfare clause.

“Our commitment is anchored in the constitutional mandate to provide full protection to labor and to promote full employment and equality of employment opportunities for all. We strive to simplify processes, making them more accessible for individuals contributing to Taguig’s vibrant workforce,” said Cayetano said.
