Kapamilya star Kim Chiu finally put an end to the months-long speculation surrounding her relationship status that she and longtime partner Xian Lim have parted ways.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday, the actress described the breakup as the “end of a love story” after nearly 12 years together.
Chiu also acknowledged the public’s right to know while respecting their individual need for privacy.
“We owe our supporters the truth, but we also respect each other’s time of healing. In a relationship, love is always a significant factor, but sometimes love is not enough,” she wrote.
The “Linlang” star described their decision as a mutual one, aiming to transition their romance into a “lifelong friendship.”
Expressing gratitude to their fans, she appealed for understanding and privacy as they navigate this new chapter.
“We thank all our followers for their love and support, but now we ask you to appreciate our honesty and give us the privacy we need as we begin new chapters of our lives. To all our supporters, maraming salamat for all the love and understanding,” Chiu added.
The actress also penned a poignant message for Lim, accompanying a series of photos of their shared moments.
“To Xi, thank you for the almost 12 years of beautiful memories together… You will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for showing me what love is,” she continued.
As they embarked on their separate paths, the “It’s Showtime” host requested the public’s sensitivity.
“As we close this chapter of our lives, I ask for everyone’s kindness and respect. I hope this clears everything as we all move forward with our lives,” she concluded.
Minutes later, Lim also took on to his Instagram to express his gratitude towards Chiu.
“The 12 years of my life with you was the best gift I could ever ask for. We have expressed our love for each other to the fullest and knowing that I got to share those moment with you, knowing our hearts beat as one at one point in our lives is truly something I will cherish for life,” Lim said.
“Like all good things, it must eventually come to an end. I am grateful for all the moments we shared together. Thank you for all the unconditional love throughout the years. My respect and admiration for you as a person, as an artist, and as someone I spent more than a decade with will always remain,” he continued.
Lim then expressed his sincerest wishes for Chiu’s future happiness and fulfillment in love.
“I wish that you will find all the happiness and love you are searching for. You deserve nothing but the best. No goodbyes here, I’ll see you around Petunia,” Lim ended.
The breakup came after months of speculation fueled by Chiu’s guarded response in November when asked about the relationship.
Earlier, Lim’s actions further fueled the rumors, with him removing most of his YouTube videos, including those featuring Chiu, and disabling comments on Instagram.
