The National Capital Region Police Office has launched the “Oplan Bantay Kalusugan” to safeguard the health of police officers and ensure they are physically and mentally equipped to handle the demands of work.

The program, aligned with the NCRPO’s seven-point agenda, has six core pillars: prioritizing officers’ well-being, tying officer health to efficient law enforcement, building public trust through healthy officers, implementing economic strategies to minimize healthcare costs, creating a health-centric work environment, and strengthening safety protocols.

The initiative will also address concerns about overweight and obesity, which affect operational efficiency and well-being of police officers.

The NCRPO, under the leadership of Director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., is focused on lifestyle changes, dietary adjustments, and physical activity to achieve a normal body mass index and prepare officers for their duties.

The plan will also establish regulatory frameworks and procedural guidelines for administering health and physical well-being initiatives, adhering to continuous weight standards for general qualifications for appointment within the Philippine National Police.

Gen. Reynaldo Tamondong said.
