A party-list group in the House of Representatives has extended financial assistance to the families of the bus crash in Hamtic, Antique that killed at least 18 people.

The group’s nominee, AnaKalusugan Party-list  Rep. Ray T. Reyes said they provided P10,000 in medical assistance to each of the families of the 18 fatalities and 11 wounded passengers in the accident that happened on Dec. 5.

“Our condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims of the bus accident. You can also hope that AnaKalusugan is here ready to help you to make sure that those who should be responsible for this accident are held accountable,” Reyes, vice chair of the House committee on health, said.

According to reports, more than 50 passengers were on board bus No. 6289 traveling from Iloilo City to Culasi town in Antique when the vehicle’s brake system allegedly malfunctioned at around 4:30 pm, causing the bus to fall into a ravine.

Injured passengers were then admitted to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique as well as the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) and Iloilo Mission Hospital.
