ACER, a leading player in the PC gaming market, sees a larger role for its esports business on the global stage ahead of the Asian Games 2026.

“It’s part of the learning curve to engage with those who have stronger esports program. More tournaments, more chances for us getting competitive as we move forward to the next phase of our journey, which is making sure that in the next Asian Games in Japan, our team can finally compete because we are much more prepared,” said Acer Philippines managing director Manuel Wong.

He also said bringing Asia Pacific Predator League, the most prestigious gaming tournament in the region, to Manila is a pivotal moment for the country’s esports and gaming scene. Among other territories in APAC, the Philippines was chosen by the majority as the host for the said event.

“The Asia Pacific Predator League is undoubtedly one of the pinnacles of the esports calendar in the region so having the event held in Manila truly demonstrates the significance of the gaming and esports market in the country,” he said. “We are happy to provide a platform for the next generation of players to thrive and grow. Definitely, a really good showing [from Filipinos is expected in the hosting]. I’m pretty sure that the Acer Predator team is going to show Filipino hospitality for the gamers.”

Aside from consistently offering gaming laptops catering to diverse budgets, Acer has been working with other partners to provide gamers professional coaching and a social space to connect with fellow gaming enthusiasts.

Passionate esports community

Acer Philippines General Manager Sue Ong Lim noted that the Philippines has a passionate and rapidly-growing esports community and that the Predator League is “a chance for us to showcase our passionate esports gamers and what Filipinos can bring to the table.”

“Definitely, world-class fans will be showcased,” added Wong. “Unlike in other countries, Filipino esports fans will stay and watch the games regardless of who is playing. The Filipino fans do not leave even if the team that is playing is not Filipino. In other countries that I went to, if the national team is not playing anymore, they do not watch.”

Acer has crafted an unparalleled experience for attendees. Besides the intense competitions, attendees can elevate their excitement by immersing themselves in music by band performances like Kamikazee. They can also have the chance to get limited-edition Predator merch while engaging with renowned influencers like Cong TV and Alodia Gosengfiao.

The Predator League serves as a platform for emerging esports talents to cultivate their potential within the gaming industry. Since its establishment in 2018, more than 15,000 teams from the Asia Pacific region have participated in the Asia Pacific Predator League. In the grand finals slated next year, we will witness champions emerging in two of the most thrilling title–DOTA 2 and Valorant.
